Join us for a one-of-a-kind citizen science experience—Sleuthing for Salamanders is back! Now in its third year, this long-term research study is tracking amphibian populations at Siuslaw Model Forest.
The community monitoring event takes place on Thursday, April 24th, where participants will gather at the ponds for a brief training on research methods and salamander identification. Then, guided by Dr. Rebecca Pinder of Columbia-Greene Community College and CCE educators, teams will venture into the woods to search for amphibians.
Siuslaw Model Forest is home to incredible salamander diversity, and April evenings are the perfect time to spot them! Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to engage in hands-on science in the great outdoors.
