Ahoy, landlubbers! Step aboard the Worthy Vessel for a rip-roaring adventure in SOUTH, a “nautical musical for grown-ups” featuring an original story, book, music, and lyrics by local songwriter Carmen Borgia.
Set in 1860, somewhere north of South America but south of North America, the tale follows Wheeler, a young sailor adrift on the turbulent seas aboard the perpetually sinking merchant ship Worthy. With only a locket as a clue, he searches for his long-lost mother, embarking on a wild high-seas odyssey. Along the way, he encounters a dreadful cook and his naïve daughter, a shady collector of religious artifacts, thieves, pirates, priests, traders, renegade nuns, drunken townsfolk, and an entire island of well-adjusted cannibals. A caffeine-addicted monk ultimately brings the adventure full circle in this rollicking, melody-filled spectacle bursting with high spirits, humor, and Latin flavors—all pointing SOUTH!
