Join renowned Cole Scholar Alan Wallach, PhD, for an enlightening talk on why Thomas Cole revisited his iconic series, The Voyage of Life, in Rome. Wallach, a distinguished historian with over 50 years of expertise in American art and the Hudson River School, will unveil new insights into Cole’s artistic motivations and the cultural context of his second series.

This thought-provoking event is part of the 2025 Sunday Salons, made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts. Don’t miss this deep dive into Cole’s legacy with one of the field’s leading experts!

Thomas Cole National Historic Site

The Thomas Cole National Historic Site is the former home of Hudson River School of Art founder, Thomas Cole. Located in the village of Catskill, the house, called Cedar Grove, and Cole's studio are open for tours, events, and workshops throughout the year.
