In winter, without their leaves to distract us, tree species can be easy to identify if you know what to look for. In this workshop, we will learn various native trees’ characteristics that help us to identify them in the leafless season. We will start in the Education Center, observing samples of twigs, buds and fruit. We’ll examine needles of different conifer species too (the evergreens.) Then we will head outside to look at the bark, branching and form unique to each species. Dress warmly, bring a notebook and camera.
